FSANZ Poultry Meat Production and Processing Standard

The new FSANZ Standard for Poultry Meat was approved and published on 20 May 2010 and was to become effective by 20 May 2012.  Implementation of the standard through State legislation has been a little slower than expected and in most States formal implementation will commence during 2012-13.  More information about the development and implementation of the food safety standard, which for the first time formally covers the on-farm production of poultry meat and forms part of the new through chain food safety standards that are being developed by FSANZ, is available here.
