All the chickens grown in Australia have been produced through selective breeding. As there are no genetically modified chickens in Australia, consumers are not eating GM food when eating chicken meat.

In recognition of the concerns of some consumers, Australia’s largest chicken meat processors, representing over 80% of chicken meat production, have committed to using their best endeavours to source non-GM ingredients for their feed.

However, non-GM soya bean meal can no longer be sourced in sufficient quantities to meet the poultry industry's needs and thus feed is likely to contain GM soya bean meal.  Please note that the ACMF statement from 2006 (below) has yet to be updated to reflect this current situation.
